The newest edition to our Hot Chocolate range is Dominican Republic Hot Chocolate and is available to buy now.
When looking to source our cocoa, we ensured the cocoa is grown by the co-operative, meaning more profit stays in the country. We are very happy to be working with FUNDOPO, a smallholder organisation which sources our fairtrade cocoa. They work with YACAO, who buys the cocoa, ferments and exports on our behalf from the heart of the Dominican Republic.
FUNDOPO supports the local smallholder families by paying a higher incomes than the average, better health and quality of life by paying for doctors, medication, building and renovating houses and improving the water supply. They also offer advice and training so can therefore offer better yields. The whole region benefits from valuable community projects.
Dominican Republic is a single origin hot chocolate, made solely from natural non-alkalised cocoa and sugar, free from anything artificial and is approved by The Vegan Society. Carefully crafted to achieve a 35% cocoa composition, featuring earthy hints with subtle fruity undertones and a hint of smokiness. Its taste carries a bitterness, approaching a mildly sour flavour, which with the elevated cocoa content, guarantees a lasting, intense chocolatey taste.
Just in time for autumn/winter menu changes, available in 1kg resealable flat-bottomed bags, it makes the perfect addition to your existing hot drinks range, offering customers a premium hot chocolate that is not only delicious but also ethically sourced.
